Orson Scott Card's 1985 novel, winner of both the Hugo and the Nebula Awards, is one of the most widely read works of modern science fiction, widely taught in schools and often cited on leadership reading lists for its exploration of strategy, isolation, and the moral cost of turning children into weapons. It launched a series that has continued across decades and perspectives.
